My computer is: Dell Dimension 8300 P4 3.0 Ghz ATI Radeon 9800 Pro Audigy 2 Promisefastrak S150 TX2Plus (2x160 in RAID 0)
This is what I did: 1. DL 3.70 from www.entechtaiwan.com. 2. Installed it with Kasperskys Internet Security 6.0 turned off (exit) and rebooted computer. 3. Launching Powerstrip and system hang.
Hopes anyone can help me out with this problem Im having when trying to use powerstrip. The problem is after installing powerstrip v.3.65 (shareware from entech website), rebooting as it say after installing complete and launching powerstrip, then my computer hangs up. Can't do anything at all, computer just freezed up and can't use mouse/keyboard. Only way is to shutdown computer with powerbutton (sitting on computer chassi, I mean). Had tried over 3 times uninstall/reinstall without succes, same thing happened every time trying to launch powerstrip and computer total freezed up.
So my guess it's Dell have locked BIOS (locked PCI settings) and causing this hanged up symptoms? Either I don't have a clue what's going on?
1. Close PowerStrip if its running 2. Go to your PowerStrip folder and delete the pstrip.ini file you find there 3. Start PowerStrip but do NOT change anything.
You should do this:
There are no such pstrip.ini file at my powerstrip folder and only file named pstrip is pstrip.exe. Do pstrip.ini creates while installing it or after launching powerstrip for the 1 time? These are the files in my PowerStrip folder after install:
Rik Wang : It will be a conflict with some other software - not hardware - you have running (it could also be a bad/cracked version of PowerStrip).
Rik Wang : I'm not sure why you don't download the 3.70 version from EnTech, but whatever.
Anyone have a clue why I cant launch Powerstrip? Im suspecting, do it have to do that Im using Dell Dimension 8300, that have locked BIOS settings and thats why powerstrip doesnt support it?

dt744190 : The latest version is 3.65 at www.entechtaiwan.net and after u said it, I went to www.entechtaiwan.com instead after found out it was 2 entech websites. DL 3.70 from there and it didnt helped either. My system hang is with a clean install, never installed powerstrip before after I formatted my computer for few months ago.
Download and install the latest version, which is 3.70.
dt744190 : I'm not using cracked version of Powerstrip. As I said, I did used the shareware version 3.65, downloaded from Entech website and having this problem. Anyway, did dowloaded 3.70.569 Beta Free Trial version from softpedia and tried it out. Same thing, computer total freezed up after launching powerstrip.

Its not clear what you are describing. The system hangs with a *clean* version of PowerStrip, or the system hangs only after you've made some changes in PowerStrip?
So I never made any changes in powerstrip, since I can't even launch it to use it after installed powerstrip with a clean install.
Did the system hang or not?

That I want to try out with powerstrip, to change PCI Latency settings, since read that someone said it fixed the crackling/popping/dropouts sounds from soundcard and that is my purpose trying powerstrip. Did also tried out another free tools called DoubleDawg that can change PCI Latency settings, but same thing happened there and my computer total hanged up while launching it. :?
