"India has always been diverse in its culture and this diversity is seen in almost every aspect be it the language, food, festivals, clothings, culture, etc. Indeed it is a blessed county to have so much variety within its states but unfortunately due to the modernisation many of the traditions, languages and art forms are coming to an end. Let us see some of the dying art forms of India which once were an integral part of the society.
• Rogan Painting -
It is an art of cloth printing practiced in Kutch, Gujarat. The paint used is extracted from the flowers and vegetables mixed with oil. Once very famous, this art is nearly dying as only two families in a village are practicing it now.
The government has taken a lot of initiatives since the early 21st century to renew the interest of people towards this art form. PM Narendra Modi also gifted two Rogan Paintings to President Obama during his visit to the U.S.
• Parsi Embroidery -
This has almost become an extinct handicraft. This beautiful embroidery work is usually found on the sarees or Gara and has its origin from China. It takes almost 9-10 months to complete a saree and mostly a white colour silk thread is used for the embroidery.
Motifs made are usually influenced by the Chinese mythology. A parsi Gera can cost from INR 50,000 to INR 300,000 depending upon the design.
• Manjusha Art/paintings -
This is the only art form of India which is said to be sequential, depicting the stories in series. It has its origin from a small town called Bhagalpur in Bihar and dates back upto 7th century.
These paintings are famous for portraying culture and religious stories and only three colours are used to paint a full portrait. The government is making a lot of efforts to keep the art alive.
