Kolakham is in the fringe areas of Neora Valley National Park Forests. It is far removed from urban life. A trip can be greatly rewarding with a visit to this peaceful and tranquil village in the lap of nature.

Nature is at its best here in Kolakham. Travelling a few meters inside the forest the environment completely removed from what ever we experience near the village. Chirping birds, dense coniferous pine trees and the exotic rhododendron flowers transfer you to solitude which is also referred to as silent valley.

From Kolakham the lush valley and the rolling hills stretch north as far as the eyes can see. In the west, they end at the foot of the Kanchenjunga. In clear weather, the snowy peaks of Kabru, Kabrudome, Kanchenjunga and Pandim stand out against the stretched sky. There are many rare birds and animals and luckier ones are those who can sight wild animals. Changey Falls is just 3 km jeep drive plus 1.5 km walk down over 250 well built stairs
