When people use the lessons learned and the precepts of A Course In Miracles, they find that they arrive at a new knowledge of forgiveness. They are able to study and learn why you hurt yourself and others when you do not forgive.

For this reason it's so important that after someone else hurts you, you must forgive. Often we hear someone say a course in miracles online, "I cannot forgive him/her for this." Oh, but they must! The main one who must forgive is affected just as much as the one who must be forgiven, if not more deeply! You are able to forgive the wrongdoer whether he asks for forgiveness or not. In so doing, the pain that anyone caused you will undoubtedly be lifted from you and you may be freed from any anger and negative emotions. This could be the first of the miracles that's granted and obtained by the energy of forgiveness learned from A Course In Miracles.

"Many years back, in what appears like another lifetime, I was hurt deeply by the man who had promised before God and witnesses to love me until death would some day part us. He did not keep that oath. In the beginning, we were happy and we settled in to a comfortable married life. I believed everything was fine. I consequently found out differently when I ran across the first of what would come out to be several extra-marital affairs. At first, I was angry and refused to forgive and nothing went right for me throughout that time. It absolutely was when I used the lessons to forgive and change my convinced that my own life changed and I realized why these feelings were of my own making and my disrupted life was a thing that I really could change."
