How to choose the story for your novel

Writing a novel is a long-term commitment. We have all read stories of written novels of the pull in a couple of hours, but anyone who has tried to write a novel knows that, in all likelihood, that is nothing more than bullshit invented by some marketing department to sell us the novel as "fresh" .

But the reality is that if you write a novel, you will be tied to the same story for months and even years.

It is usually easy to choose the story to write a novel: one day you get an idea, you fall in love with it and you need to take it to paper.

In previous years I have already explained to you that I never participated in it , because it requires a time that I do not have and it would only cause me stress by getting to meet the challenge at any price.

If you want that your novel will be among the Top Novels of All Time then choose the best story for your novel. Below are tips to choose best tips to choose the story of novel.

  1. You have to fall in love

This is fundamental. And I don't say that you have to like history, I say fall in love. You're going to spend a lot of time with her, so you better get excited. In addition, in this way, you will surely put all your energies in bringing it forward.

Not to mention that if you don't like history yourself, it is unlikely that others will like it.

  1. Do not choose a theme, choose a story

That was the mistake I made with the novel that I started writing: I had a topic that interested me a lot, but I didn't have a story that supported the novel , so I couldn't shape it.

It's great that you want to write about political corruption, the crisis, the struggle of the common hero against an adverse environment, the tribulations of the modern housewife etc., but it won't do you any good if you don't have a character A that faces a series of conflicts that change before the final resolution .

That is, you need a story, with its approach, knot and outcome, with a main plot and several subplots that contribute to advancing the story, and with a protagonist that changes and evolves thanks to what happens to him. Top 10 Novels of All Time are those which are liked by people all time.

  1. Forget about markets, fashions and trends

As much as the stories of zombies are taken, or the historical novel, or "porn for moms," forcing you to write in a genre for which you have no hobby or talent is not going to get you closer to seeing your novel published . In fact, the result is likely to be artificial and false, and therefore does not deceive or engage the reader.
