In orbit, small satellites have enabled a wide range of scientific and technological research and demonstrations at a low cost

A satellite operation is a small office or branch office located in a different location than the main office of a company or government agency. Reaching an underserved area, expanding market share, and employee lifestyle/quality of life factors may all be reasons for establishing a satellite operation.
Satellite operations can be used in a variety of businesses, including financial advisors and brokers, doctor's offices, DMV offices, political offices, and corporate offices. Satellite operations are valuable because they can improve client interactions, increase sales efficiency, and reduce the burden of customer service. Many customers may prefer to deal with a local representative. Although a satellite operation may have some autonomy, it is not a separate legal entity or subsidiary of the parent company. This structure could expose a foreign parent company to tax and legal liability based on the location of the satellite operation.
Microsatellites and nanosatellites are other types of small satellites that are less expensive than traditional satellites and are frequently used for communication, commercial, and space research purposes. Demand for these satellites has increased significantly due to their lightweight characteristics, shorter development cycles, high capability of performing complex computing activities, and lower development and launch costs.
