In the catheter segment, a recent medical innovation is the drug-eluting balloon

One of the most recent medical devices in the catheter segment is the drug-eluting balloon (DEB), also known as the drug-coated balloon (DCB). A eluting balloon catheter is used in peripheral artery procedures to reduce the rate of restenosis. A drug-eluting balloon catheter is inserted into a narrowed, unhealthy coronary or peripheral artery and gradually releases a drug to limit further cell proliferation.
The drug-eluting balloon catheter is gaining popularity as a result of its excellent results in cardiovascular and peripheral artery procedures. Furthermore, drug-eluting balloon catheters are proving to be beneficial for patients who are unable to undergo percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) procedures. As a result of this situation, many drug-eluting balloon catheter manufacturers around the world are increasing their production capacity. The aforementioned factors are positively impacting global sales of the drug-eluting balloon catheter.
Drug-eluting balloons are a new technology that has allowed for the treatment of a variety of chronic conditions, including cardiovascular disease and peripheral vascular disease. Medical intervention innovations, such as advanced products and technologies, have simplified the treatment of blood vessel blockages. The increasing prevalence of cardiovascular, peripheral vascular, and neurovascular diseases, among others, is a major driver of drug-eluting balloons.
This is due to various government initiatives to raise awareness about the therapeutic applications of drug-eluting balloons in coronary and peripheral artery diseases.
