Inflammatory bowel disease is an umbrella term for diseases of the intestinal tract that involve chronic inflammation. Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis fall into this category. As inflammation is created by the immune system, it is extremely helpful to identify foods which trigger an immune response, as these foods will cause or contribute to this disease.
