How to install OpenEdge 10.2B on Windows using a silent Netsetup.

This applies only to OpenEdge 10.2B. Later releases follow different steps. Refer to the steps described in the OpenEdge Getting Started: Installation and Configuration manual for later releases.
Follow these steps on the Windows NetSetup server machine to be able to execute silent NetSetup installs on OpenEdge 10.2B client machines:
1. Perform a regular full OpenEdge installation on the file server machine. 2. Share the installation folder (by default, "C:\Progress\OpenEdge", referenced hereafter as " ") on the network with the appropriate access rights. 3. Copy the file 3party\dexplore.exe from the OpenEdge CD or product download to \bin\3party\dexplore.exe. 4. Copy the folder 3party\dotnetfx from the OpenEdge CD or product download to \bin\3party\dotnetfx. 5. Create a file named "OE_102B_extensions.reg" in the folder \netsetup containing the following contents:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00.

6. On an OpenEdge client machine, create a file named "setup.iss", using the following command which will launch a non-silent NetSetup install:
\\serverName\progress\netsetup\setup.exe -r -f1C:\setup.iss.
This will generate a "setup.iss" file with a content similar to this:
7. Copy the file "setup.iss" generated in step 6 to the Windows NetSetup server folder \netsetup.
8. Security updates to Windows Vista, Windows 7 and later make the silent installation of the Microsoft Virtual Machine msjavx86.exe impossible. To work around this issue, rename the file msjavx86.exe to OLDmsjavx86OLD.exe on the computer hosting the netsetup files. This makes Progress Explorer unavailable on the client machines; use OpenEdge Explorer instead.
9. Create a batch file named "script.bat" with the following content:
if NOT EXIST %WINDIR%\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v3.0 \\serverName\progress\bin\3party\dotnetfx\eng\dotnetfx.exe /q /norestart \\serverName\progress\bin\3party\dexplore.exe /q:a /c:"install.exe /q" regedit.exe /s \\serverName\progress\netsetup\OE_102B_extensions.reg xcopy "\\serverName\progress\netsetup\setup.iss" "C:\" /c /h /r /y \\serverName\progress\netsetup\setup.exe -s -f1C:\setup.iss -psclogC:\setup.log.
10. If client machines where the silent NetSetup is to be used are running Windows Vista, Windows 7 or later, temporarily disable User Access Control (UAC) or use a compatibility fix created with the Microsoft Application Compatibility Toolkit. Without one of these steps, security-related popup messages will disrupt the silent NetSetup.
a. Execute the following command on the client machine:
C:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe /k %windir%\System32\reg.exe ADD HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System /v EnableLUA /t REG_DWORD /d 0 /f.
b. Restart Windows.
To use a compatibility fix on the client machine:
a. Create a custom-compatibility fix database named "OE102Bnetsetup.sdb" using the Application Compatibility Toolkit as directed in article 000018708, How to allow a silent OpenEdge NetSetup installation while UAC is enabled.
b. Run the following command as Administrator to install the database on the client machine:
11. Run script.bat as Administrator on the client machine to launch the silent NetSetup of OpenEdge 10.2B.
12. If UAC was disabled or a compatibility-fix database was installed in step 10, re-enable UAC or uninstall the compatibility-fix database.
To re-enable UAC:
a. Execute the following command:
C:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe /k %windir%\System32\reg.exe ADD HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System /v EnableLUA /t REG_DWORD /d 1 /f.
b. Restart Windows.
To uninstall the compatibility-fix database, run the following command as Administrator:
