the first of many questions.
my next question is about java? i\u0027m a member of track pass @ nascar .com and the system riquiards(sp)a real player witch i downloaded and a java 1.4 program witch i think i downloaded but i\u0027m not sure?

i was wondering if anyone could answer some questions i have. the first is when i go to some web sites (www.nascar.com most often) i'll get these small white boxes with a red x inside them,(now when i go to the same site on my girlfriends pc there not there). what are these little boxes,and how do i fix my pc so the whole page display's right.

1/ The little red crosses are where pictures are supposed to be - they are enclosed in a larger square - these are the boarders of the picture - a web page is made up of text and pictures of differing format. Java is just one type of graphics - then there is jif or jpg - when a red cross appears it means the picture cant be displayed - sometimes its just due to a slow or busy web site - right click on the red cross and select "show picture" - If there are lots of them try and refresh the page. If this doesn't help let us know - but keep your computer up to date with Java and windows updates. 2/ If you have downloaded Real player it will appear in your programs folder and few other places - believe me if you downloaded it you will know. Ok guys here's the deal first thanks for the help. I have the latest real,java, and miromieda but i'm still getting those little boxes, if i right click that also does nothing. Could it be that the pc is just that out of date. The pc was given to my family and from what i understand it's a 1998 Emachines that's 8 years old! Our internet connection is roadrunner but it runs like dialup just a little faster, that and it seems to slow after you've been on for a while. As before any info would be great!! THANKS, Tony.
If it is happening that much and nothing is happening after right click must be something wrong and not just a slow machine/connection - dont think you told us much about your system/computer setup but you must get all the latest windows and IE updates. could be a security issue. How do you have your security settings set?
Tools, Internet Options, look at the Security and Advanced options. Compare them to your friends.
