The day before it was reported that the CBI filed a chargesheet against three people in the case of the death of the sadhu Acharya Narendra Giri. One of the suspects is his disciple Anand Giri. One of his brothers, Naresh Gaur, was arrested in March. He is accused for providing SIM cards to the two co-accusedand being part of a scheme to take down the sadhu.

On the other side, a senior leader of Hizb-ul-Mujahideen criminal group who claimed to be responsible for death of army officers had been killed in a shootout in Kulgam. The perpetrators are on in the wild, but police have stated that the terrorist was part of an "A+ category". The influx of foreign fighters joining the military has raised the risks.

The Centre is currently auctioning off non-core assets of two state-owned telecom companies, BSNL and MTNL. The two companies MTNL and BSNL operate at a loss and have failed to demonstrate a turnaround after being given a revival package.
