A blog about tenders and how to optimize your chances of securing a tender. United Kingdom Tenders is a system which allows private firms, charities and other organisations to bid for public sector contracts. It was introduced in 1995 by the Labour Party with the intention of increasing competition between suppliers, driving down prices and improving services. he Tenders system has been widely criticised, however. In 2009-10 alone £14 billion worth of business had been tendered through this scheme - just over 2% of all public spending that year. And yet it has also been noted that as much as 38% of these contracts were awarded without any competition at all; meanwhile experts have estimated that up to £2billion per year is being wasted on useless paperwork because there are so many bidders competing for each contract.Recently, the British government has been looking for new tenders to improve their public image. The current Minister of Public Affairs is in charge of restoring the public's trust by hiring a team that can make sure the government operates with transparency. They have looked closely at agencies like Ogilvy and Mathers as well as smaller firms such as JWT London, but they have not yet found a company that meets all of their needs.
