I do think this game has a lot of effort put into it, but it is missing its purpose. Purpose, as in what exactly are you hoping the player to experience. I enjoy difficult games, however at hour 3 I had to put it on 'Story' (super easy, apparently) mode to give it a chance due to the default difficulty being on insane break your controllers against the ing wall mode, but even with that at hour 4 I can't go on any longer. I really wanted to enjoy a game that made me feel like a powerful wizard learning the arcane arts, but at this point I just feel like a guy flailing his hand around with spells that he's not entirely sure what they are supposed to do, being killed by enemies that are stupid but relentlessly unforgiving. Sure, I can cast a 'protection' around me and cast spells north and south or whatever, but even when I'm successful I am confused at their purpose. I earned, with difficulty, a new sorcery wand with feathers on it but it seems like it was a waste of husks because I'm not sure what it does. In fact there are a bunch of spells that I'm not sure what they do. I do wish there was a clear skill tree other than text descriptions you 'eat' to upgrade your skills. I finally gave up when the story put me at the bottom of a pit of endless spiders, and I've tried every spell and can't get past a magical barrier. As others have commented, the enemy AI results in game play that forces you to seek their ineptitude due to the difficulty. It boils down to flail, die, try again, repeat. Even when you pass a section, get to the next save, and then manage to die, the previous enemies respawn. This gives the world a logical inconsistency that breaks immersion. The game does a good job of atmosphere, and I do get shivers when an enemy appears. But I don't feel connected to the world as I did in a game such as Vanishing Realms (VR). At least in VR the enemies had a logical consistency; a game mechanic that was exciting and fun to exploit again and again. In Left Hand Path, during any enemy encounter my skill does not determine if I come out alive or not. I feel as though it's entirely random, and as such I did not enjoy it, and will not continue.. Incredible dungeon exploration in VR This dev is so creative and passionate. Seriously in my top 5 games and I own + 200.top textures, top 3d objetcs, top lightening, top ambiance, top sound. creepy inferno. I would like to play this game, but the few I played was so much incredible, I am just waiting next update. I keep this game for the complete experience. I cannot wait to have a total bad-trip journey inside this scary dungeon. Very dark, very creepy, very mature. Today June 2017 the best dungeon . It s not an fps, it s more based on casts with hands movments, a bit like in Arx Fatalis in its time.. This game is great for any fan of magic combat/dark souls. Here are my favorite features of the game: Magic based combat (quite a number of spells that you have to find around in books around the environment) Casting spells by using gestures (excellent use of the Vive - you trace runes in the air with one hand and aim with your magic staff with the other, SUPER immersive) Exploration (Tons of books from which you piece together the story, books with spells to add to your arsenal etc) Leveling up spells (You get to pick which spell you want to improve) Rituals - (To go along with quick spells you perform slower rituals that protect you from spirits/open closed gates/provide you with a compass etc). Teleportation OR traditional movement - (Like most Vive games, you can teleport but here you can also use traditional movement though it was added last minute and is a bit wonky for now. Best part is you don't have to select which you want, you can use both at the same time). Very active developer - (The dev is very active, listens to suggestions, implemented traditional movement after people asked, patched up bugs quickly, etc). Here's why I get a lot of Dark Souls vibes from the game: You collect souls from fallen enemies and use them to upgrade abilities You drop souls upon death and can collect them back if you return to where you died Dying returns you to previous skull location (bonfire) and enemies come back General atmosphere - The game is dark and bleak, I love it. I'm not saying the game is perfect, there are certainly things that could be added (inventory, cooldowns, interaction between spells and items in the world etc) but this has been one of the most immersive Vive games I've tried. It's certainly the only one in my 50+ VR library to make me feel like an awesome mage (besides Waltz of the Wizard but that's totally different). I can't wait to go back and see what's around the next corner.. A game with this low production quality cannot charge 14,99. Bravo! This game pushes VR beyond an arcade experience into an actual GAME. This is atmopheric, has you on edge, and gives you that illusion of using actual wizardry. There are so many nice touches, its hard to know where to begin. Enemies that are genuinely scary, tapestries that hide hidden passages, and an NPC that will sit with you by a fire and tell you about the direction you're about to go if you head that way. REALLY great job on the team that made this game, and I highly encourage anyone who owns VR and likes atmophere and immersion to give this game a shot.. This is a great game, almost given me a heart attack a few times. but for the fact that this is a early access game the gameplay from what i have seen so far is virtually flawless except for a few animation problems such as enemies running. but on the bright side the game is really addictive and i havent seen a game on htc vive as unique as this yet. the story-line is fun and scary, addictive to follow and provides a challenge for anyone that likes fantasy games. I would defenitely reccommend this to anyone looking to play a really good htc vive.. Left Hand Path is a first person view action RPG a lot like Vanishing realms but darker, harder, and more horror influenced. The game takes some nice cues from Dark Souls in terms of design. Short cuts that open pathways back to earlier areas, a persistent world where you keep your items, shortcuts and bosses defeated even if you die, etc. One thing that sets it apart is that this is primarily a spell casting game. You spend a lot of time drawing signs in the air and channeling the spells through your staff. Sometimes even sitting your staff on the floor to conduct rituals. The air drawing is unique and feels really good. This game may be early access but there is already as much here than many VR games. If you are tired of endless wave shooters and want a "real game" for your Vive, this is an excellent choice at a cheap price. The developer is very active on forums and is making continious quality of life improvements. Note that you'll probably die a lot at first. But in time you'll get better. Fear not the darkness. Choose the Left-hand Path.. Feels like Ultima Underworld. Has the best 1:1 locomotion system.
