"We are the first ones who want him to be here with us and , unfortunately, I don't know the reasons behind his absence, as the ideal place to discuss these pension issues is precisely this Congress," said the president of Asofondos.

Montenegro stated that he was a political agent with Gustavo Petro , the candidate for the Historic Pact. He also said that he worked alongside Gustavo Petro in 1998 during the campaign for president of Noemi.
