PMP Certificate or “Project Management Professional Certificate” is a globally recognized certificate provided by the PMI or “Project Management Institute” assuring the employer that his employee is well-trained, capable and qualified to manage projects. The Project Management Institute (PMI), founded in the year 1969 at the Georgia Institute of Technology as a non-profit organization, is the reason behind more than 2.9 million certified professionals who work in the industry. They have more than 870,000 members in 208+ different locations around the world with 300+ local branches and more than 10,000 volunteers. The Project Management Professional (PMP) was launched in 1984, and since then it has become an industry standard.

The person applying for PMI Certification should have basic experience levels, educational levels or both of them. If the person has a secondary degree, he is required to have at least five years of project managing experience; if he has a bachelor’s degree, he needs to have project managing experience of at least three years. To qualify and get approved for PMI Certification, the person needs to have five years of project management experience, 7,500 hours of directing (the ability of a person to conduct a project with instructions, guiding and motivation) and leading (the ability of the person to have leadership qualities) projects and 35 hours of project management education. In the exam for the PMP certification, there are 200 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) that require the students to review their PMP Handbook (the handbook provides important information about the policies and procedures for securing the PMP certificate). The course for PMP Certification is provided by PMI branches or the authorized Registered Education Providers (REPs). Also, there are books published by REPs and other reputable PMP training organizations for convenient self-study.

The Project Management Institute understands that the manager of the project is a decision-maker, and every decision cost resources, people and environments. Hence, their decisions should not only be restricted to their corresponding business but should also overlap among other territories such as cost-effectiveness, nature conservation, minimizing harmful effects, time management, etc. Such decisions can create dilemmas in the future and also create blundered decisions and risks, which can make the project manager haphazard and consume more time for making the best-coordinated course of action. The decision-making process becomes more complicated when project managers find themselves in conflict with stakeholders. The courses of the PMI intervene onto these real-life projects, managing problematic situations and provide a guideline of the Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct and a structure for ethically making decisions.

ExcelR PMP Certification

The certificate for Project Management Professional can provide jobs in the fields of pharmaceuticals, consulting, resources, aerospace, engineering, and many others. The hectic job of a project manager includes activity and resource planning, organizing and motivating the project team, time management (defining and sequencing activity, estimation of activity duration, developing and maintaining a schedule), estimating cost and budget development, ensuring satisfaction of the customer, analyzing and managing project risks, supervising the progress and managing reports and necessary documentation.
