Simply Energy is, unfortunately, not 100% Aussie owned and operated. Their ownership structure can be traced back to a company known as ENGIE. ENGIE is a big name in big energy. They span over 70 countries, in all four concerns of the earth. The company likes to emphasise its commitment to providing a quality energy products in an ethical way. Officially the company is French, and has it’s fingers in a number of energy pies. They’ve gotten involved in everything from Petroleum to Solar to Nuclear energy. The company is also making a sweet profit thank you very much. In 2018 they reported a frankly insane yearly revenue of $60 billion, more than enough to keep their over 100,000 employees in a job for another year at least. How did ENGIE get here? It’s not that old of a company either, being born of a merger between tow other French energy outlets in 2006, a full year after Simply Energy was founded. At some point following this merger and the creation of ENGIE, the multi-nation decided to establish a foothold in the Aussie energy game by purchasing Simply Energy.
