A reckless janitor accidentally releases a zombie from a laboratory of research. Meanwhile, the teenagers scouts Ben Goudy and Carter Grant decide to camp for the last time since they are too old to be scouts. The problem is that they do not want to harm the feelings of their friend Augie Foster and the Scout Leader Rogers. They have a flat tire after hitting a deer on the road and Carter's sister Kendall Grant, her boyfriend and her friend Chloe stop their Jeep to see whether they need a ride. They invite Ben and Carter to go to a party in the night. The two scouts leave the camping during the night to go to the party. When they drive through the town, they do not see a living soul and they decide to visit a night-club since the bouncer is not at the door. They discover that people have turned into zombies and they team-up with Ben's recent acquaintance Denise Russo, who is bartender in the nightclub, and Augie that was left alone at the camp and came to the town. Soon they discover that the non-infected inhabitants have been evacuated and the town will be bombed by the government. They decide to rescue Kendall but they find that the address her boyfriend gave to them is wrong. What can they do to save Kendall?
Three scouts, on the eve of their last camp-out, discover the true meaning of friendship when they attempt to save their town from a zombie outbreak.
From the reviews I thought this was going to be a train wreck of a movie but it wasn't. It could have been easily a PG-13 teen comedy, horror movie but the movie as a whole is under minded by a few juvenile jokes that bring in unnecessary nudity and sexual situations that just slow film down.

From the title and trailers you would think that zombies and survival would be at the forefront but it takes third of the film to really get to the zombies. In some ways this film feels like a bad re-imagining of Return of the Living Dead.

At one point I wondered when this film was written, a nearly 20 year old Pop singer reference from the late 90's seems out of place if these teen scouts are from 2015.

Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse is a great name but Scouts vs Zombies would be more accurate. There is no guiding like Zombie Land. Most of the movie is the main cast running from place to place and looking for help.

Overall this is a movie might make the rounds in someone's zombie horror night movie marathon but it's just average movie at best. Scouts since childhood, friends Augie (fat nerd), Carter (mouthy would-be cool guy) and Ben (likeable audience identification kid) are off on a weekend camp in the woods, where Carter and Ben plan to sneak off to go to a rave before finally telling Augie they don't really want to be Scouts any more because everyone laughs at them. However, the onset of a wave of zombieism in their town interferes with their plans.

The zomcom interfaces with the High School coming of age comedy, and with moderately satisfying results. There are no huge surprises here, nor any earth-shattering revelatory subtexts, but if you go to a movie with this title expecting Shakespeare, then you're doomed to disappointment. Our three protagonists are utter clichés, as is everyone else we encounter – Scoutmaster with secret, sister's unpleasant boyfriend who looks down on the Scout threesome, blonde bimbo sister, unpleasant old woman neighbour... only Sarah Dumont (hot stripper who can shoot) gets to put a little meat on her character's bones. There might be a little more satisfaction for zombie fans, because the effects are gruesome, if jokey.

Overall, this film delivers pretty much what you would expect it to, but that's all. Sheridan proves he can still act the crap out of a movie, even when crap is all the movie has to offer.
