History is made by different sets of events. If different events didn’t happen, we probably didn’t have a lot of changes. That is why everything around us is never constant. Hotels came up with business ideas and offered people to see the comet passing by from the roof tops and windows by providing them binoculars and telescopes. People also wore gas masks. It did pass and it left a 24-million miles long tail of stardust but it didn’t emit any kind of gases. It was proved that The Times of New York did it to get a good sale of the magazine. But there were many people who said that comet’s passing caused the death of King Edward VII but a weird thing is that he was born when the comet first passed. The comet was named after an astronaut Edmond Halley.

Then there was the Mad Gasser at Mattoon, Illinois. The story goes that in almost 20 homes in Mattoon, people inside their homes sensed a weird smell. And as soon as people kept breathing it, some people started vomiting like crazy, some people blacked out and some people got paralyzed for a short time. This side effect stayed for some hours but when the people were rushed to the ER, there were no symptoms of anything. This created a huge panic in the city because this continued to happen for 3 to 4 days. The situation was so bad that FBI had to intervene. The person who did this was also called the Phantom Anesthetist. But actually no one was ever caught and it stopped happening on the 5^th day and it never happened again.
