Most people are well aware that the way to lose weight is to burn off more calories than we consume each day. In order to speed up this process, many people seek out most things is designed with a helping hand, with weight loss teas on top of the list.

One weight loss aid that has proved highly beneficial is Green tea. Green tea has been demonstrated to modify insulin levels, and also to lower bad cholesterol and triglycerides. Unlike many other weight loss aids, Green tea is extremely healthy. It includes antioxidants that keep the body healthy and free from disease by fighting harmful free radicals. A Green tea and antioxidant rich diet has been connected to reducing the risk of cancer and heart diseases. So not only does it help you keep slim, but provides many beneficial health advantages.

How does Green tea Work?

There are three main basic elements which were proven to have a major affect on weight loss.


As Green tea contains much less caffeine than coffee or black tea, the resulting effects are decreased compared to other caffeinated products. It does not cause heart palpitations, but it does assist the speed up of metabolism. Many studies have concluded that including caffeine in the daily diet helps to encourage more importance loss.


Catechins are the antioxidants that are found in Green tea. They can also be found in coffee and cocoa powder plants, but the best source of catechins is the tea plant. Green tea is unfermented which leaves the catechins in their natural state, making it a better source than black tea which is fermented, and the catechins are therefore changed. Catechins are helpful in weight loss because they are regarded as help suppress lipid fat ingestion from food, thus reducing cholesterol and helping to fight the build up of body fat.


Theanine is the amino acid found in Green tea. It has the ability to change mood, induce feelings of calm and balance chemistry, by helping to release Dopamine, a brain produced chemical that leads to a feeling of calmness chemistry. It also lowers the side effects of Caffeine, which is why the caffeine found in this tea does not seem to offer the same effects as other products. Whilst this alone is not a weight loss aid, by reducing stress levels, the urge to eat is greatly reduced.
