What are the uses of high-strength titanium alloy rods?

Titanium alloy rods have the advantages of high strength, low density, good mechanical properties, good toughness, and corrosion resistance. In addition, titanium alloy rods have poor process performance, are difficult to cut, are prone to absorb impurities such as hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen, and carbon during hot processing, have poor wear resistance, and have complex production processes.

Industrial production of titanium began in 1948. In order to meet the needs of the development of the aviation industry, the titanium industry is developing at an average annual rate of about 8%. At present, the annual output of materials processed by all titanium alloy rod manufacturers has reached more than 40,000 tons, and there are nearly 30 brands of titanium alloy rods. The widely used titanium alloy rods include Ti-6Al-4V (TC4), Ti-5Al-2.5Sn (TA7) and industrial pure titanium (TA1, TA2 and TA3).

(1) Titanium alloy rods have high strength

The density of titanium alloys can be analyzed and is generally around 4.5g/cm3, which is only 60% of steel. The strength of pure titanium is close to the strength of ordinary steel in our company. Some problems have high strength and titanium alloys have exceeded the development of many related studies. Strength of alloy structural steel.

Therefore, the specific strength (strength/density) of titanium alloy is much higher than other metal industrial structural design materials, and parts with high working strength, good rigidity and light weight can be manufactured. At present, traditional Chinese titanium alloys are mainly used in the engine work of our country's aircraft through components, frames, skins, fasteners and landing gears.

(2) Titanium alloy rod has high thermal strength

The use temperature is several hundred degrees higher than that of aluminum alloy. It can maintain the required strength at medium temperature and work for a long time at 450-500 ° C. The specific strength is still high in the range of 150-500 ° C.

The specific strength of aluminum alloy is 150 ° C drops, the working temperature of titanium alloy can reach 500 ° C, and the working temperature of aluminum alloy is below 200 ° C.
