On January 24, Shakhtar will play their first friendly at the winter training camp in Belek. The rival of the vice-champion of Ukraine will be the Austrian “Wolfsberger”.

The match will start at 15:30 Kyiv time. The broadcast of all Shakhtar's friendly games at the training camp will be available on Shakhtar TV on the official website and in the FC Shakhtar mobile application (Google Play and App Store), the Pitmen's official website informs.

"Wolfsberger" was founded in 1931 and represents the city of Wolfsberg (federal state of Carinthia). In 2012, the club reached the first Austrian Bundesliga, where the debut season ended in 5th place, one step away from the European Cup zone. In 2015, the result was repeated, and this was already enough to qualify for the Europa League.

In 2019 and 2020, our opponent became a bronze medalist. He has already played twice in the main draw of the Europa League: in the 2019/20 season he closed the group table with Roma, Borussia Gladbach and FC Istanbul Basaksehir, and in the 2020/21 season with CSKA, Dinamo Zagreb and Feyenoordom advanced to the playoffs from 2nd place, having been eliminated from Tottenham in the 1/16 finals (1:4, 0:4).

Last season, Wolfsberger finished 5th in Austria with a negative goal difference (-10), and this season they are 3rd, having an equal number of points with Sturm. However, of course, without obvious ambitions to climb to the top - both pursuers are 14 points behind the Red Bull Salzburg club.
