Trust me, I’ve learned another language – it isn’t easy! But it CAN be! I started learning French when I was 11 years old, and in 2017 received my Masters in it. For years I felt like I was stuck not improving and not becoming fluent, learning vocabulary that wasn’t relevant for speaking French in the real world. It wasn’t until I lived there for 12 months that I felt as though I was on my way to being fluent. Interacting with French people not only improved my French language ability, but it also helped me fall in love with the language. The key? INTERACTING, SPEAKING and IMMERSING myself in French. Had I had the opportunity to learn French WITH a native online before this, I’m sure my transition into French life, language and culture would have been much smoother.
