YOUR Minster mum-of-four says her tiny flat has become so overcrowded it is now a fire hazard.

Charlotte Snook is needing to sleep in her relaxing room with her four-month-old child while partner Shane includes one bedroom with little girl Sophie, three, and her 13-year-old little girl Carly and 11-year-old son Harry should share the other master bedroom.

The security worker appealed to Thanet council to maneuver the family last year as a result of damp and mould which usually soaks every room and it is made worse by the actual overcrowding.

The 33-year-old has lived within the flat for 11 ages but says the wet and mould issue began six issue. She says she usually uses a tumble dryer as an alternative to hanging washing indoors in addition to has had numerous would mould washes, extra vents installed and used fans even so the problem continues.

And now the arrival of baby Sienna has meant aquiring a cot in the sitting room as well as new furniture, ready for any house move that hasn’t occured, packing out the hallway.

Charlotte, having been bidding for a different home without success, claimed: “It is really poor. My daughter has completely changed during the last few months and is so unhappy. When I asked (the housing officer) how much time it will take to acquire somewhere, weeks, months, years, he just said ‘hopefully not necessarily years. ’
“The fire assessor have been out because we are usually so overcrowded. I must move the front room around and now the door can’t become shut and we must take off the house one. There are boxes in the hall because we thought we were getting a new property in Manston so ordered furniture as all our things are actually ruined by the wet and mould and you can find problems with the electrics when each room only provides one socket so we need to use extension leads. ”

Charlotte is keeping baby Sienna’s clothes from the boot of her car due to mould in her house and says she has had to attend the doctor due that will mounting anxiety.

Thanet councillor Reece Pugh has attempted to support the family and says she has been “ pushing for Charlotte to become reassessed” but without benefits.

A housing officer visited Charlotte last year to discuss her home issues and housing desires, including any additional support which may be required, but said she was not eligible for a management move – which can be being rehoused in exceptional circumstances such as not being safe within a current property.
However, she's in housing band B this means the family are performing as having serious homes needs. The banding will be one required for you can buy council housing in Manston.

A Thanet council spokesperson mentioned: ”While we are can not comment on individual conditions, we can confirm in which available homes are publicized on KentHomeChoice and allocated to people most in need. We operate a banding system to establish the levels of want.

“When a number of households that are in the same band all place bids at homes, we allocate considering how long each household is in that band to get. Lettings are fair plus transparent, decision making demonstrates the council’s Allocations Policy.

“Unsuccessful households should still bid for homes which become available and consider all housing possibilities to them.

“The council’s properties are managed by Far east Kent Housing, who arrange to inspect homes in which tenants complain about condensation challenges. They offer detailed information about managing moisture and condensation in your own home. They also ensure that you'll find not faults or outstanding repairs required knowning that mechanical ventilation is employed in both the kitchen as well as bathroom. ”
