Treatment of choledocholithiasis can only be surgical. There are two methods of surgery: crushing the stones (lithotripsy) or removing them (extraction).
When the stone cannot be removed by endoscopy, surgery is used. The surgery is done by classic or laparoscopic approach. During the operation the choledochosis is dissected with a special tool and the stones are removed. In all cases of choledocholithiasis treatment, the gallbladder is removed at the same time (if it was not removed earlier). In the future, after surgical treatment it is necessary to undergo postoperative examination, follow the recommendations for regime, diet and taking medications, which will be prescribed by the attending physician in the hospital.

I had choledocholithiasis. A bad doctor prescribed me pills that ruined my liver. And as it turned out later in this case only surgery is needed. Now I'm treating my liver as well.
