How Do I Recover The Admin Password Of My Netgear Wireless Router?

In order to improve the performance of your Netgear wireless router, you must update its firmware on regular basis. When you access the Netgear router login page, you will see a message at the top of your computer or laptop dashboard saying that a new version of firmware is available. If there is any, you have to click on that link to update your Netgear router’s firmware.
How to upgrade the firmware on my Netgear wireless router?
There are three ways through which you can easily update the Netgear router’s firmware.

Using the check button in the Netgear router web interface.
Using your Netgear router’s smart wizard interface.

You can use any of the above-mentioned methods according to your comfort to update the latest firmware version on your Netgear WiFi router.

Update the router’s firmware using the check button in the Netgear WiFi router web interface

Plug your Netgear WiFi router into a power outlet.
Launch a web browser on a computer or laptop.
Type routerlogin into the browser’s address bar.
A router login window will appear.
Enter your admin details.
Click on Advanced and then select the Administration option.
Select Firmware Update and click on Check.
If any new firmware version is available for your Netgear WiFi router, click on Yes.

To update Netgear router firmware using the smart wizard interface follow the steps below.

Connect your computer or laptop to your Netgear router’s wireless network.

Launch an internet browser on your connected device.
Launch a web browser from the device connected to your router.
Enter the Netgear router login IP address (default) i.e. 192.168.1.1 in the browser’s address bar.

Press the Enter key.
The Netgear router login window will perhaps display.
Enter your router’s default login credentials.
The Smart Wizard may display.

Select the Router Upgrade option and click on the Check button.
If new firmware is available simply follow the instructions given on-screen and update your router’s firmware with great ease.

Another method is to manually update your Netgear WiFi router’s firmware.
Download the firmware for your Netgear router.
Save the firmware file on your desktop and unzip it (if needed).

After that, launch an internet browser on your computer or laptop.

Enter routerlogin.net into the browser’s URL bar field. If the web address routerlogin.net not working then you can use the default IP address of your Netgear router as a web URL.
Type your router’s login credentials into the required fields of the displayed page.

Select the Administration option.
Click on Firmware Update and select Browse or File.
Save the new firmware on your desktop and click on Open.
Note: Please do not interrupt the firmware update process in between. Your router might reboot after the new firmware version is successfully uploaded. During the firmware upgrade process, please ensure that your Netgear router is properly plugged into a wall socket.
