Realtek RTL 8139 Ethernet NIC.
I uploaded via internet Windows SP update and it knocked out my network connection, I have Realtek RTL 8139 Ethernet NIC; error message "Network cable unplugged" it's working great on my laptop just not PC tower. Help.

Moral: Do not install hardware updates from Windows Update. In general, do not install "optional" updates from Windows Update.
You omitted a bunch of the info I suggested that you include, but . if you really think the problem is the driver for your NIC, then (A should work; if not, do B):
A. Roll Back Open Device Manager (Start > Run > devmgmt.msc > OK) Expand the "Network adapters" section by clicking the + and then double-click on the entry for your RTL 8139 Select the "Drivers' tab and Click "Roll Back Driver"
B. Reinstall Driver.
