CAUSES OF KNEE PAIN

INJURY:

Whatsoever the reason may be, injury can cause damage to the ligaments, tendons or fluid-filled sacs that surround the knee joint. Some of the common injuries affecting knees are:

1. ACL INJURY:

This injury happens commonly to those who are involved in some sort of sports such as basketball, soccer, or any other sports which require continuous changes in direction while playing. Tearing of Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) which is one of the ligaments that connect your shinbone to the thighbone.

2. FRACTURE:

Due to accidents or falls, the bones of the knees can break including the kneecap. In some cases, due to osteoporosis, the bones become weak and thus become more vulnerable to fractures. This may take time to heal and may also lead to permanent knee pain especially in the case of elderly people.

3. TORN MENISCUS:

The meniscus is thin cartilage between shinbone and thighbone. On suddenly twisting your knee while you are carrying some weight, it can be torn. As a result, one has a bad time dealing with knee pain.

4. PATELLAR TENDINITIS:

Irritation or inflammation of tendons is Tendinitis. This problem is faced by people who are runners, cyclists or jumping sports. The patellar tendon, which is the connection between the quadriceps muscles on the front of the thigh to the shinbone also gets affected.
