Long after the enormous square V-8-fueled muscle vehicles of the 1960s and 1970s went, Buick brought back a portion of that enchantment during the 1980s. The Buick GNX, in light of the Grand National (which is itself a speedster form of the Regal roadster), was furnished with an intense, turbocharged V-6. The GNX bundle brought the Grand National's strength from 245 up to 276. Vehicle and Driver tried one out of 1987 and recorded a 0-to-60-mph time of simply 4.6 seconds, making it perhaps the snappiest vehicle available. Buick made just 547 of these dark mammoths. Many were saved into capacity as speculations.
