Besides a record of exceptional skills and outstanding achievements, an applicant also needs a nominator who will endorse their talent to the Australian government.

The nominator must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident. An Australian organisation can also nominate a visa applicant for the visa.

The Global Talent Visa was introduced with 5000 visa places, and now has 15,000 positions in the 2020-21 permanent migration program.

Eligibility criteria for the Global Talent Visa:

To apply for the GTI visa, the applicant must be:

• Highly successful in one of the ten target sectors and attract a salary that meets the high-income threshold.
• prove they are internationally recognized with evidence of outstanding achievements
• Candidates should have the ability to attract a wage at or above the Fair Work high-income threshold of AUD158, 500.
• Be prominent in their field of expertise
• provide proof that they would be an asset to Australia in their area of expertise
• have no difficulty obtaining employment in Australia or becoming established in their field
• Have a recognized organization or individual with a national reputation in the same field in Australia nominate them as global talent.
