After all the tension to pass all the tests and driving tests, now you are finally the happy holder of a National Driver's License and you are ready to venture out on the roads with your friends. As a young driver with at least one year of experience, you have the green light to make your first car rental. Auto Europe offers young drivers the possibility of renting a car with different car rental companies all over the world.

The cars livery service available for rental to young drivers generally belong to the Mini and Economy categories. Sometimes the rental company may offer an upgrade to the compact category. As a young driver, you should be aware of some basic requirements and learn some facts about renting a car.

MINIMUM AGE
Rental companies consider drivers aged between 19 and 26 years old as young drivers. Learn more about renting a car under 26 .

IDENTITY CARD AND CNH
Upon picking up the vehicle, the young driver must present his/her identity card or passport, depending on the country where the rental is taking place. In the vast majority of cases, the driver must present a valid driver's license for at least 1 year.

CREDIT CARD
It is mandatory to present a valid credit card in the name of the main driver when picking up the vehicle. This is a mandatory requirement since the rental company will use this card to block the deposit. Regardless of the payment method used to make the online reservation, drivers are required by the rental company to leave a security deposit for the rental vehicle. The amount of the deposit corresponds to the minimum amount of: deductible + fuel + VAT, which will be blocked on the main driver's international credit card.

Attention: cash deposits, maestro card, switch, prepaid credit cards and any debit cards will not be accepted. Therefore, credit cards of parents or guardians cannot be used in this case. The card must contain the first and last name of the main driver. The blocked amount will be refunded in full at the end of the lease, provided that the vehicle is returned under the same conditions. It is possible that the rental company offers additional insurance in order to reduce the value of the deposit to be blocked. YOUNG DRIVER FEE
All young people who intend to rent a vehicle will be required to pay an extra fee, also called a "youth driver fee". The amount of this fee varies according to each rental company, and can cost between €5 and €30 per rental day. But you must need to choose a professional driver for city sightseeing tour to aquire the safest journey.

ADDITIONAL DRIVER
If another driver wishes to be added to the rental agreement, they will have to pay an additional driver fee in addition to the young driver fee if they are 26 years of age or younger.
