West Sikkim is a favorite destination with trekkers, nature and adventure lovers due to the high elevations and has diverse flora and fauna. Pelling is the most popular visited town of West Sikkim as it is in most tourist itineraries. Yuksom and Tashiding are nearest town to Kunchenjunga National Park from where the Dzongri(Kunchenjunga Base Camp) Trek begins. Rinchenpong, Kaluk, Chayatal, Okhrey are near the vicinity of Barsey Rhododendron Sanctuary. Biguney is a river side village location on Rangit riverside which is slowly gaining prominence among tourist. Yuksom, is a beautiful and quaint town and was previously the capital of Sikkim, a 300 year-old Dubdi Gompa (Buddhist temple), perched on a hill, is reason for the town being considered holy.
