what to do when a man thinks that doing laundry is women thing

Well, you could stop doing his laundry, cooking, etc.

I remember when Kingfish, my late husband, used to come home from work and lay down on the couch. The shoes came off at the door. The socks came off when he got to the couch, and they ended up under the couch.

I had hampers and baskets all over the house for laundry. I had tried unsuccessfully for years to train Kingfish to use them. Finally, I got tired of searching the house and doing what I called “harvesting the laundry”. I washed what was in the baskets.

One day, he calls out to me that he couldn't find any socks. “Check under the couch. That’s where you usually put them,” I deadpanned. He was not amused.

I wish I could say that he got better about it, but he didn’t. He would occasionally wash a load of his own clothes. Problem with that was, he considered a pair of jeans and one sock to be a load.
