Fico Gutierrez, the chance of becoming "Uribe’s Candidate"

Since the night of Sunday, Federico Fico Gutierrez , the Colombian presidential candidate has been the most ferocious. Even though his name appears on the electoral roll for the first time - he was Medellin's mayor and councilor this is his first attempt in the national election. There he won over 2 million votes through the Team for Colombia alliance. This makes him the most popular candidate of conservative groups. Fico (47 years old) is now the main opponent to Gustavo Petro. https://thebogotapost.com/fico-eyes-colombias-presidency-an-intervi... in the Historic Pact movement made him one of the most prominent political figures in Colombia.

The presidential election is just starting and whether or not the former mayor of Medellin is able to become the true counterweight to petrismo is contingent on the alliances and talks which he will be able to forge from this point on. He will not only be required to unite the whole right under his command as well as be able to win over a segment of the electorate in the center which was deflated on Sunday without any remarkable leadership. To do this it is necessary to avoid the same thing he has avoided to date, being in the same picture with the former president Alvaro Uribe. https://www.instagram.com/ficogutierrez/ , for the first-time in the past 20 years, open support for uribism may be a good thing instead of reducing. "Federico Gutierrez faces a dilemma. He must make an alliance, on Uribe's side along with the Democratic Center. However, Gutierrez must convince Uribe and the center, which will have to decide its future direction." Yann basset, analyst at the University of Rosario.

Fico, which is a coalition partner with the CD where uribism is concentrated has made its first conquest on the way to an alliance. Oscar Ivan Zuluaga who was previously the presidential aspirant, stepped aside to acknowledge the few chances he had to compete with him. The next step is to examine if the whole Uribismo collective - which has been left without an elected representative - does the same. Uribe is able to demonstrate his support by being open and convincing his electorate with traditional questions of the Colombian Right. Already, his address about "security" as well as "order", opportunities and love of the country showed Uribe is adding votes. He proved this by an consultation on elections, as previously in Antioquia's Mayor Office. On a recent visit to Arauca (an region that has been particularly hit by violence) Fico said "The bandits are in prison or in the grave." Fico knows well what the Colombian right wing is a fan of, but it will not suffice for him.

"We are not in the year 2018, when the fear of left was effective, but this time, voters are not affected by fear," Basset points out. According to Basset, Fico would not be able to get Uribe's blessing even if the Alvaro Uribe figure isn't the one the country has known since 2002 which was the year that Uribe became the president. But this doesn't necessarily mean that the Uribismo votes are insufficient to Gutierrez. It could be because they are lower than the table. Uribism contributed to the victory of the coalition. Basset is now warning that his capability in negotiations will be evaluated. Andres Méjia Vergnaud discusses the relationship between Fico's former president and Fico. He states that Federico Gutierrez wants Uribismo votes but not Uribe photographs because it's not appropriate for him to be his candidate.

Gustavo Petro is the only leader on the left However, Gustavo Petro is the only one on the right. Fico, if he can negotiate, will convince him to provide his backing and step aside. Rodolfo who ran as an independent, is still in contention. Gutierrez will be able to boast an impressive list of achievements including the former mayor of Bucaramanga who is an architect and millionaire.

Gutierrez has a lot to accomplish before he can even begin thinking about possible presidential formula names, however, he is supported by a number of other candidates from the Team for Colombia coalition. https://www.elheraldo.co/politica/oscar-ivan-zuluaga-desde-el-uribi... 's not just little. Two former mayors, Enrique Penalosa in Bogota and Alex Char in Barranquilla, are with him; David Barguil is the leader of Conservative party. Aydee Lizarazo is a Christian party member who is able to vote according to the instructions of her church's lectern.

The Conservative Party was strengthened, and it won the largest right-wing vote with over 2 million votes. The Conservative Party also enjoys the support of the U Party. This party has a strong legislative vote with more than 1 million votes. Oscar Ivan Zuluaga was there to stand with Fico. He didn't leave Sunday's elections without taking the time to pretend his defeat and avoid a confrontation for the votes of those on the left. This gives Fico some momentum in a particular sector of conservatism. But it also keeps him away from potential votes from the center. According to Alvaro Uribe, former president, Fico will have to decide if he is willing to risk his chance at the center in order to enjoy the privilege of being the blessed by Uribe.
