The Telangana State stepping into the 10th year.
Telangana was formed out of Andhra Pradesh in 2014. The journey to a separate State began in 1952 and culminated on June 2, 2014, when K. Chandrasekhar Rao took oath as the first Chief Minister of the new State.


History

After India’s Independence (1947), the govt requested the last Nizam of Hyderabad to join the Indian Union, to which he refused
In 1948, the Indian army annexed Hyderabad and the Nizam surrendered
Finally, Hyderabad State acceded to the Indian Union
To provide the recommendation for the reorganization of the State boundaries, in December 1953, the States Reorganization Commission was appointed.
In 1956, the Hyderabad State was dissolved as part of the linguistic reorganization of states and Telangana was merged with the Telugu-speaking Andhra State to form Andhra Pradesh.
A peasant-driven movement began to advocate for separation from Andhra Pradesh starting in the early 1950s.
Proponents of a separate Telangana state cite perceived injustices in the distribution of water, budget allocations and jobs.
In 2013, the government cleared the formation of Telangana and concluded the process bypassing the statehood bill in both the houses of Parliament in 2014.
On 2 June 2014, the Telangana area was separated from the northwestern part of Andhra Pradesh as the newly formed state with Hyderabad as its capital.
