Earlier known as West Jet Express, allegiant air was founded in 1997 under the leadership of Mitch Alle (CEO), Jim Patterson (President) and Dave Beadle (Chief Pilot). In 1998 allegiant air started scheduled services after receiving FAA and DOT certification for scheduled and chartered domestic flights and adopting its new name to Allegiant Air. In the beginning scheduled service started between Las Vegas and its main hub Fresno, California on October 15, 1998 with two jetliners. Almost after a year in mid 1999 Allegiant air was flying nonstop between FAT to LAS (Fresno to Las Vegas), FAT to BUR (Fresno to Burbank), FAT to RNO (Fresno to Lake Tahoe), LAS to RNO ( Las Vegas to Lake Tahoe).

Allegiant air kept growing by adding new nonstop and one stops flights in 2000 after WinAir Airline closed in later 1999. Allegiant air started nonstop services from a small hub in Long Beach, California and started nonstop flights between LGB to LAS (Long Beach, to Las Vegas) & LGB to FAT( Long Beach to Fresno) further expanding its nonstop services between LGB to RNO(Long Beach to Lake Tahoe), also adding more flights and expanding to Portland, Oregan and Reno, Navada.

In 2005 Allegiant Travel Company completed private equity placement and began trading on NASDAQ as “ALGT” at the end of 2006. Allegiant Air expended in 2006 with 21 Fleet and started flying nonstop to and from almost 40 small focused cities. Today, Allegiant air headquarter at Las Vegas, Nevada with over 4000 employees helping company to offer world class low airfare to almost 350 routes across the country and other travel related products such as hotels and car rentals which can be purchased through official website.
