This is one of my favorite shooting and conditioning drills. I learned a version of this drill when I was an assistant with the WNBA Washington Mystics. It is a catch and shoot drill with varying basketball movements built into it. You will be amazed what great basketball conditioning it is too.

The version of the drill shown here is for one player. Often, when I train groups of players, they form a line in the 1/2 court circle at the start of the drill. Then they start the drill one at a time. Each player shoots until they miss, then they get their own rebound on the miss and go to the end of the line.

1. Player sprints to the foul line from ½ court, catches the pass, shoots. Coach passes and rebounds.

SHOOTING TEACHING POINTS: come in low, with your hands up shoulder height, catch with shooting hand behind the ball, 1-2 step into the shot, square up - ten toes to the rim, follow through.

2. Back pedal to the 1/2 court corner, sprint to the near elbow- catch shoot.

3. Defensive shuffle to sideline, sprint to the elbow- catch shoot.

4. Sprint to the baseline corner, sprint to the elbow- catch shoot.

5. Back pedal to the opposite 1/2 court corner, sprint to elbow- catch shoot.

6. Defensive shuffle to sideline, sprint to the elbow- catch shoot.

7. Sprint to the corner, sprint to the elbow- catch shoot.
