Every Monday, we’ll answer your questions on Covid-19 and health in a feature published online. You can submit a question here.

This week, HuffPost UK reader Terry asked: “Does vaping by an infectious person make spread more likely?”As it stands, there’s no evidence to show the virus that causes coronavirus – SARS-CoV-2 – is more likely to spread through e-cigarette vapour or cigarette smoke than, say, breathing out normally.

Lincoln Project Attorney Scorches Lawsuit Threat Over Ivanka, Jared Billboards

An attorney for the never-Trumper Lincoln Project sent a scathing legal response Saturday to a lawsuit threat over a pair of attack ads against Ivanka Trump and husband Jared Kushner on billboards in Times Square.

The billboards skewer Donald Trump’s daughter and son-in-law for their callous indifference to the COVID-19 death toll in America, that now stands at nearly 225,000.

The Lincoln Project received a letter Friday from lawyer Marc Kasowitz, representing the White House…

The UK government has signed its trade deal with Japan, in what it called an “historic moment,” after it was agreed in principle in September this year.

The deal comes after decades of Japan negotiating trade agreements only via the European Union.

Vaccine trials 'can't detect' virus risk reduction: expert

None of the trials of Covid-19 candidate vaccines can detect a reduction in serious outcomes such as hospitalisation or death, a leading public health expert said Thursday.

Writing in the BMJ medical journal, associate editor Peter Doshi warned that not even phase 3 trials under way in the race for a vaccine can prove their product will prevent people contracting Covid-19.

In a sobering essay, Doshi said those hoping for a breakthrough to end the pandemic would be disappointed,…

Why your in-office friendships still matter

Office friendships are atrophying amid remote work.

But you can reap tangible benefits by putting in the effort to keep up intimacy with your office mates.

There was a time, in the not-so-distant past, when going out to lunch, day after day, with the same group of colleagues was as mundane a part of daily life as the morning meeting or evening commute. But after six months of eating sad desk salads alone, the idea of lunch with our work clique has never felt so exciting.

As…

Rebecca review: ‘A pallid adaptation’

The latest adaptation of Daphne du Maurier’s Rebecca is “bland”, argues Caryn James, who writes that this film “feels as if someone at Downton Abbey were having a bad day”.

Daphne du Maurier wrote the novel Rebecca inspired by jealousy and insecurity, but it all turned out great in the end. Several years before, she had discovered letters to her husband from his beautiful former fiancée, who had taken her own life. How could she compete with a ghost? Du Maurier channelled that anxiety…

Why plastic-surgery demand is booming amid lockdown

Lockdown and remote work have meant hours of staring at our own faces on video calls – and prompted interest in going under the knife.

As much as we may now be trained to sit on video calls and stare at our colleagues through a computer screen, many of us find ourselves constantly distracted during our daily huddles and meetings. It’s not the dog barking in the background, or the roommate making lunch over someone’s shoulder – it’s the sight of our own faces.

And the longer…

Since the first cases of COVID-19 were identified last year in Wuhan, China, it was clear that the highly infectious virus wreaks serious damage on the respiratory system, specifically the lungs.
