Skydiving is an experience that many of us want to feel. It is an experience that can not be replaced by any other. Shweta Parmar, a 28-year-old woman became the first civilian of Gujarat to be a skydiver, making her state and country proud.

Skydiving is fun. It is an activity that attracts youth and tourists. Talking about India, Skydiving is not an activity that takes place on many sites. Today, Mad4India brings the journey of Shweta Parmar, who became Gujarat’s first and India’s fourth licensed woman skydiver.

Hailing from Vadodara, Gujarat, Shweta Parmar was a student pursuing a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in Accounting and Finance, and later did Masters of Business Administration (MBA) in Marketing in 2015 at The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda. Her father died when she was 18, so her university fees were funded through a scholarship and partially by her two elder sisters.

Losing her father at the age of 18 years was not easy on Shweta Parmar. With finances and other essentials left on her elder sisters, life beckoned her but, she dived back to her adventure sport and started training.

Shweta Parmar did not let anything stop her to fly her wings. While growing up, she wanted to be a pilot, but due to her poor eyesight, she couldn’t pursue her passion. She then decided to focus on her studies and get a job.

When she completed her MBA in 2015, she had secured a job with an MNC. Within three months, Shweta Parmar came across a FB Ad of Tandem jump in Mehsana in 2016.

It had cost her Rs.35,000/- but the feeling of jumping was magical.

A licensed skydiver trained internationally, her trysts begin in 2016.

Shweta Parmar had found her passion this time, and she was not leaving it. She researched active places of skydiving and came across one. She then decided to travel to Spain in 2018, and that was the start of her journey.

Shweta Parmar completed 8 level AFF courses skydiving, 29 jumps in Spain, and had to appear for a written exam to get her USPA license exam. She was now a trained skydiving instructor.

Shweta Parmar is shweta parmar now recognized as a licensed skydiver by the USPA – United States Parachute Association. With this license, she can now skydive anywhere in the world.

Shweta Parmar is also the founder of Techmero, a digital marketing company in Vadodara.

She started training for a skier in 2020 and is a certified skier with certification from IISM and ABVIMAS, which are India’s top ski training institutes.

Shweta Parma is an inspiration for many young girls. In a country like India, where Doctors and Engineers are highly preferred over new-age professions, this 28-year-old woman has turned the tables into turning her passion into a profession.

She has done 47 solo skydives till now. One of the biggest achievements is that Shweta Parmar has skied from the world’s third-highest ski resort in Gulmarg.

Till she joined the league, India had three skydivers, there were Padma Shri awardees Rachel Thomas, Shital Mahajan, and the country’s first female base jumper Archana Sardana was the only three licensed woman skydivers in the country.

Like most other adventure arenas, skydiving is also a male-dominated space. In India, there are only four skydivers including, Shweta Parmar.

With her wings flying, she is diving into the open skies by herself. Shweta Parmar is a pioneer icon to women who wish to conquer the world in any field.
