There are many artists of all genres living and working all over the world. When hunting for an artist to create a likeness of your pet, keep the following criteria in mind:

Meet with the Pet Portrait Artist you want to work with in person or by email to establish a rapport. Make sure they have a genuine passion for animals, as this would show in their work.

The artist would almost certainly request a half-price deposit up front, with the balance due upon completion. Request that a copy or snapshot of the artwork be submitted to you for review and to make any further modifications before it is mailed to you or picked up at the artist's house. This ensures that the artwork is to your preference until it is sent to you.

Acrylic, paints, pastel, watercolour, and coloured pencil are only a few of the media that an artist can use. Acrylic and oil paintings do not need framing. When commissioning a painting, keep in mind the pastel, watercolour, and coloured pencil artwork would almost always need to be framed under glass.

For the artist to work with, a photograph must be provided. The artist can ask for more photos to ensure that your pet is accurately depicted. Photos can be sent to the artist via regular U.S. postal service or e-mail.

And sure to talk about how long it would take for you to get the painting. If your artwork has a date due to an anniversary, graduation, or holiday, make sure to inform the artist. They could be able to work through your deadline in some cases. Remember, that you receive the artwork within the time frame.

If you've determined the animal portrait artist you want to collaborate with, the short wait for your portrait to be completed is well worth it!.
