What’s the difference between an Enameled Sink and a Porcelain Sink?

Although the possibility is quite low, people may mistake an enameled sink for a porcelain sink sometimes. This article today is going to discuss the differences between the two types of sinks.

Enameled sink
An enameled sink isn’t, of course, a sink that is completely made of enamel. Usually, enameled sinks are enameled cast iron sinks or enameled stainless steel sinks, which are made out of cast iron or stainless steel and covered by enamel finishes.

Porcelain sink
A porcelain sink refers to a sink that is entirely made of ceramics, which are formed by going through high-temperature fire to make it smooth and non-porous. This kind of sink, as we know, is one of the most common sinks that are installed in bathrooms.

Maintenance and care
Basically, enameled sinks and porcelain sinks have the same finishes. Therefore, those two kinds of sinks can be maintained and taken care of using the same methods.

Actually, cleaning these two kinds of sinks is quite easy. Wiping the surfaces by using a soft cloth or sponge timely and regularly will make them serve you for a long time. For daily usage, you need to pay attention to avoiding enameled sinks and porcelain sinks away from hard and sharp objects, which are easy to cause scratches on the surfaces of sinks.

One disadvantage of enameled sinks that deserves mentioning is that they are more likely to chip. And they are easy to get stained. So remember to avoid your enameled sinks from the water with high iron content. A paste of vinegar and cleaning powder will help to remove the stains on the enameled sink.
